Exercising at the “Right” Time
Determining the best time to exercise can be a fascinating subject. There is research that suggests the best time to exercise, in general, is about six o’clock in the evening. Body rhythms, lung functions, body temperature, and hormone levels are most conducive for exercise at this time. Life’s demands compel many people to do their exercising in the morning, however. There are surveys that have been performed to support that statement. Doing workouts first thing in the morning or during lunch or other breaks is more convenient so that is when most people do so. Some prefer to workout in the mornings. After a morning work out many people feel more awake, energized and ready for te day ahead. They often feel great in fact, almost bullet proof. Getting your blood moving at a higher level will help you become more focused and alert. You will leave others who are still trying to wake up well in the dust behind you.
If you choose to engage in your fitness activity during lunch, or maybe a mid-afternoon break, then be aware of the environment. Research has shown that lung functions are less than optimal at about noon time. Aerobic activity is not optimal during power walks along busy streets. Even still this is still better than not trying to do anything at all. It’s important that you know that plus protect yourself during hot summer months. Be sure to stay hydrated at all times to help out your lungs and overall body.
we all know there has to be a balance. Life is too busy and hectic. Try to be flexible with yourself. Remember that it is most important to be able to be consistent and not quit your training or exercise program. So even if you have to workout on some mornings and other evenings then do it. Noone else can make these decisions for you they are your responsibility. So set a schedule that works for you and stay with it.
Your work schedule does not need to affect your exercise routine, your body will adapt. Even if you are working out hard such as weight training, or running 10 miles in the morning – you can adapt to it. Be patient but keep at it and soon you’ll notice that your body resists less.
