If You Are Not Doing These 2 Things Than Your Marriage Will Suffer
First things first, whatever the reason your relationship is coming apart, I’m going to share with you is two ways in which you can improve your marriage. Other information you see all over the web are just surface level information that does not get to the root of why your relationship is going down hill. Yes, a good and healthy relationship has communication, trust, passion, and intimacy. Couples who are not struggling in their marriage have two things in common.
1. Be Mindful of Your Other Half
Do you know that absence of intimacy, communication and passion are all stemmed from a similar issue? Lack of awareness. These days, stress and negative emotions due to stress makes “zoning out” simple. Watching television, browsing the net, watching sports and so forth are how we relax from a busy day but if you like to do these activities rather than connecting with your other half, than your marriage will suffer.
This is when you have to “wake up” and become even more mindful of your surroundings, your feelings, and your marriage. If you’re sleep walking through life and permitting outside disturbances to prevent you from connecting with your spouse, than your relationship will head down the wrong road.
This doesn’t mean that you should avoid hanging out in front of the television or getting lost in a book, it is only detrimental to your marriage if you would prefer to do other things than connect with your partner. With awareness and mindfulness, you will become curious about your partner. You will remember your other half as their own person with their own hopes, dreams and fears. Many times, when we get stuck in a relationship “rut” we forget to share humanity with the person we go to sleep next to each night.
When you are with your partner, be in the moment. Breathe that moment in. Practice being in the moment when you’re with your spouse rather than worrying about the past and the future. This will help you and your other half create more opportunities to connect in a deep and meaningful way.
2. Accept What You Can’t Control
Not resisting your fact will help you accept situations without adding unneeded discomfort or suffering. Permit whatever happens to be okay. This does not suggest you can’t feel your feelings and be upset. This only means to not resist the situation by attempting to change it. If you and your partner are fighting due to different points of view, instead of being angry because you can not make them change their mind, just accept that your partner has their own thoughts and feelings. When you let yourself be a “yes” to what comes your way, you get a better chance of decreasing conflict and finding a solution to the issue. Remember, you can only control your own thoughts and feelings, and you can’t control what your partner wants.
Another example of not resisting something is when you don’t EXPECT anything out of your partner. You love and accept them for who they may be, and make sure you avoid putting your other half in a box or on a pedestal. These tips may sound too simple but they’re essential to having a good and thriving marriage.
